“Flamenco's children for the children” sums up the initiative at the heart of Moya Cruz Productions. Founded in 2003 by Walter Cruz, a flamenco aficionado with a vision of easing the plight of disadvantaged children around the world, aims to introduce the best of flamenco to audiences in Spain and the UK .

Flamenco is the passionate blend of dance and music of the gypsies of Andalusia. Dancers are absorbed in their own world when performing. “There are some brilliant Flamenco artists out there and they rarely achieve the exposure and appreciation they get at home”, says Walter Cruz. “To understand flamenco you have to live and breathe it”. This is the unique experience that Moya Cruz Productions seeks to establish for the UK audience.

Moya Cruz Productions officially launched on 6 October 2003 by staging a show with the world-famous flamenco guitarist, Tomatito, at the Royal Albert Hall. This was the first time a solo flamenco guitarist had played at this historic venue and the crowd was jubilant, ending the evening with a standing ovation. The success of this concert established Moya Cruz Productions' name within the flamenco world, and now in 2005 they are closer to their dream of organising concerts for the benefit of deprived children.

iflamenco! 2005 will bring some of flamenco's greatest names to the Royal Albert Hall in aid of Save the Children.

“Organising such an event is hard work, but it will be worth it. Some of the artists come from very poor backgrounds themselves and when they heard that they could contribute to a charity that looks after disadvantaged children, they didn't hesitate to offer to perform for free.”
